About The Role
We are seeking a highly personable Therapy Assistant to work with children with additional needs and their families. This is a fantastic role for someone who is studying Speech, OT, allied health…etc. to further develop their skills and experience OR anyone with a passion for working with children with additional needs.
It's a great opportunity to develop your skills, under the supervision of our experienced speech and occupational therapists
- The hourly rate is $39.05 + super ($43.15/hour inclusive of super). Saturday rate of $58.58/hr + super ($64.72/hr inclusive of super). Working on Saturday is completely optional. We don’t operate on public holidays and Sundays
- Any training and development conducted is paid at your hourly rate
- Any travel between clients is reimbursed at $1/km – and any additional travel to clients (beyond 15 minutes) – is also paid at your hourly rate.
- You will be provided with an induction as well as ongoing training and support from our senior speech and occupational therapists – including a structured fortnightly supervision session
- In addition, for some clients you will also have an allocation for set planning and administrative time – paid at hourly rate – but dependant on the client and situation.
- Opportunity to work directly with our Therapists in our group therapy programs (e.g. our school readiness and social skills programs)
- Conduct sessions at clients school, kinder and home
Role Expectations
- Be able to confidently and independently work with children aged 2-12 years old in their home/childcare/school environments (need own personal transport)
- Be able to establish excellent rapport with children and parents
- Be able to follow therapy plan activities – under direction of therapist (however, we will provide you with all the materials, activities, and support you need)
- Document simple notes in our practice management software
- Some ad hoc admin activities related to client’s needs (e.g. preparing therapy resources, creating visuals…etc.)
About You
- Passionate about working with and helping children
- Highly personable, engaging, and energetic
- Responsible and reliable
- Must be available at least 2-3 days per week – although there is flexibility with schedule if completing placements or studying
- Must have some experience working with children with additional needs
- Passion for allied health, childcare, education, arts or dance
